HeavyGod: "We can do a lot of damage in the future; it's just the beginning for me"
Nikita "HeavyGod" Martynenko, freshly crowned MVP of the BLAST Open London Fall 2025, delivered an electrifying performance to help G2 clinch the championship in a nerve-wracking five-map grand final against Vitality, ending 3‑2.
In the aftermath of his first-ever Big Event trophy and MVP accolade, HeavyGod was brimming with gratitude and looked ahead with unwavering confidence. "It’s crazy. I can’t describe it. I’m really grateful for this moment," he shared.
He reserved special praise for huNter‑ and coach sAw, citing their leadership as crucial to G2’s composure under pressure. "huNter’s experience worked this map, and sAw’s timeouts are really pushing us up mentally and tactically... he gives a lot of advice in game, I’m really happy for it," he said.
Recalling G2’s pivotal comeback on Inferno, HeavyGod explained the shift in the team’s mentality: “We just said, ‘let’s play default, trust ourselves and our guts, let’s do reactions.’ ... On the last map he [sAw] said, ‘just play simple,’ he really believes in us and trusts in us. He gives us a free hand for us to do whatever we think is the right thing.”
He also lauded teammate MATYS for his breakout performance in what was only his first major arena final: “He’s a crazy guy, just an insanely good player... I appreciate that I have him on the team.”
On his own future ambitions, HeavyGod made it clear this is just the start: “The sky is the limit for me... I hope I can do more damage in the scene, I will do my best... I think we can do a lot of damage in the future. It’s just the beginning for me.”
Just two days prior, after G2’s victory over FaZe in the quarter-finals, HeavyGod reflected on his personal standards:
“There’s a lot of easy kills that I don’t kill sometimes… I’m harsh on myself… I’m trying to be a perfect player… nobody is perfect, but I’m trying to go higher and higher with my level.”
He also praised sAw for providing structure and flexibility:
“We have structure, everyone knows their role… we can switch our role… sAw is putting in us that we need to cover each other… push each other to our limits…”
Early-season confidence and team cohesion
Back in March, following G2’s strong showing at BLAST Open Lisbon, HeavyGod was already signalling confidence in the team's trajectory:
“We know we can be really strong… We want to get as far as we can, and we want to win this event.”
A progressing career path
HeavyGod's recent success caps a rapid ascent. His MVP and first trophy at BLAST Open London add to his earlier accolade as an EVP at PGL Bucharest 2025.
